A 27-year-old man allegedly stoned to death over a cash debt in Trans Nzoia County.

Detectives in Kaplamai, Trans Nzoia County, are investigating into the death of a 27-year-old man who was allegedly stoned to death on Thursday night over cash debt.

Police found the body of David Wanjala Waswa after receiving a tip from a community elder.

“Police officers from Sibanga Police Post responded together with scenes of crime personnel and DCI officers from Trans Nzoia East Sub-County,” reads a police report on the incident.

“It was established that one David Wanjala Waswa was stoned to death on allegations of debt of unknown amount during the night of 21/3/2024 at unknown time.” 

Police added that prior to the incident, Waswa allegedly had an altercation with two men namely; Martin Shikuku and Obed Musala, who are now considered persons of interest in the case.

The duo’s current whereabouts are unknown but a manhunt for them has been launched.

“Exhibits of stones with blood stains, one trouser, and a shirt were recovered at the scene,” said the police report.

Waswa’s body has been moved to Kitale County Hospital Mortuary pending postmortem.
