Man Utd transfer news as talkSPORT reporter drops claim on Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham ‘on Man United’s list’

Declan Rice of West Ham United and Jude Bellingham of Borussia Dortmund are both believed to be on Manchester United’s shortlist this summer, according to talkSPORT writer Alex Crook.

The Red Devils were quiet in January, opting not to make any fresh additions, but Crook has hinted that the next transfer window might be very different.

While United did not make any moves last month, it appears that they will in the summer make a big-money transfer for a new midfielder.

According to The Telegraph, the Manchester club will target Rice in the near future, though they face competition from rivals Manchester City and Chelsea.

The 23-year-old has continued to shine in the holding midfield role this season, with a WhoScored rating of 7.22, second only to Jarrod Bowen (7.27) in West Ham’s team.

Crook said that Rice and Bellingham could both be on United’s list this summer as they look to bolster their midfield.

Speaking to GMS, the talkSPORT reporter said: “I think Declan Rice is on their list; I think Jude Bellingham is on their list.”

Rice and Bellingham are both good players in their own way, but if he thinks it’s time for a new challenge, it has to be the first of the two.

Rice has long been regarded as one of the top defensive midfielders in the Premier League. Former England manager Glenn Hoddle went so far as to claim on talkSPORT that he is the greatest player in the division outright.

“I think Declan Rice is the best player in the Premier League, he’s going to get better and better,” he said back in November.

Rice’s departure from the London Stadium will be difficult, since rumours from last year said that West Ham valued him at approximately £100 million.

Taking Bellingham away from Dortmund does not appear to be an easy task either.

Erling Haaland, who has a €75 million (£62 million) release clause that comes in this summer, could be on his way out of the German club. It’s difficult to believe they’d sell two vital players in the same window.
