Manchester United eye bargain move for a Barcelona player
Manchester United are interested in signing Ousmane Dembele on a cheap deal and Ralf Rangnick can secure his services in a cut-price deal
Manchester United have been linked with a bid for Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele in the January transfer window and might get a good deal.
United have entered the battle for the 24-year-old, according to Mundo Deportivo (as quoted by The Express), although he has been given a new salary of £9.4 million to stay at Barcelona for the foreseeable future.
Although Dembele wants to stay at Barcelona, he has been offered much more money by other clubs. Manager Xavi Hernandez has allegedly stated his wish for Dembele to stay here in the negotiations.
Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, and the Red Devils have all been circling for the youngster’s signature, with the newest reports saying he has opted to terminate his stint in Catalonia.
Despite Xavi’s assurances that he will be a crucial part of his plans, Spanish journalist Jota Jordi claims that Dembele is ready to reject the offer of a new contract, paving the way for his departure.
After leaving boyhood club Rennes, Dembele rose to prominence with Borussia Dortmund and was regarded as one of the world’s most promising prospects until he joined Barcelona for a sum that could rise to £135.5 million in August 2017.
Then former United defender and Rennes sporting director Mikael Silvestre compared him to a young Cristiano Ronaldo.
Injuries, on the other hand, have limited the flying winger’s improvement and game time since joining the La Liga giants.
Dembele has never started more than 20 La Liga games in a single season throughout his four-and-a-half years with the Blaugrana, scoring 30 goals and giving 21 assists in 121 appearances.
As a result, if interim manager Ralf Rangnick can capture the £287,000-per-week ace in a cut-price deal in January or on a free transfer next summer, the £287,000-per-week ace might show to be a great bargain.
With Edinson Cavani’s contract expiring at the end of the current season, the 20-time English champions will require attacking reinforcements, and Dembele might be the right man for the job.
