Manchester United have shelved Bruno Fernandes’ contract talks after he turned down an offer

Bruno Fernandes’ contract talks; Manchester United have shelved contract talks after the player turned down an offer from the Red Devils last year.

Bruno Fernandes wants a salary close to that of top earners like Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Pogba, and Jadon Sancho.

According to The Athletic, United offered Fernandes a new contract in late October last year, but the playmaker declined.

Negotiations are scheduled to begin later this season, when more clarity about ‘the team’s condition next season becomes available.

Fernandes’ performance this season hasn’t quite matched that of the 2020/21 season, when he scored 18 goals and assisted on 13 others.

Many believe Cristiano Ronaldo’s presence has influenced his play, since he has seven goals and three assists this season.

Ronaldo is the club’s highest-paid player, with Anthony Martial reportedly earning more than Fernandes.

Although Ronaldo, a fellow Portuguese superstar, is the club’s highest-paid player, rumors claim that David de Gea, Paul Pogba, Raphael Varane, Anthony Martial, Jadon Sancho, Edinson Cavani, and Marcus Rashford all earn more than Fernandes.

There is no rush to sign the midfielder to a new contract because he is under contract until 2025, but they obviously want to keep one of their key players happy by offering him a term that represents his value to the squad.
