Matiang’i meets Jubilee Party leaders as 2027 presidential race shapes up
Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i today held a strategic consultative meeting with a section of Jubilee Party leaders, signalling possible alignment with the outfit ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The private meeting held at a Nairobi hotel comes just days before the upcoming Jubilee National Delegates Conference (NDC).
Though Matiang’i has not officially declared the party under which he will contest for the presidency, today’s engagement is being read by many as his strongest hint yet at a possible return to the political stage under the banner of the Jubilee party which is associated with former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Matiang’i, who served in Uhuru’s Cabinet for a decade across the education, ICT, and interior dockets, has been on a nationwide popularization tour in recent months as he seeks to consolidate his political base.
While neither Matiang’i nor the Jubilee officials who attended the meeting revealed the finer details of their discussions, insiders suggest that the talks centred on party strategy, grassroots mobilization, and potential alliances.
