Media personality and reggae sensation Njambi Koikai is dead after an endometriosis battle.

Kenyan radio personality Fyah Mummah Jahmby Koikai has died after a long battle with Endometriosis.

Friends and family confirmed her passing on Tuesday morning while she was receiving treatment in the Nairobi Hospital ICU.

Koikai had publicly appealed for blood donations just three days before her passing. She requested blood type O+ on her Instagram stories.

“Hi fam, I’m currently admitted at the Pioneer Ward Nairobi hospital and I kindly need Blood O positive. Kindly asking for blood donors for Mary Njambi Koikai,” she wrote.

In a heartfelt message on her social media just days ago, Koikai made a plea to Kenyan leaders, particularly President William Ruto who was visiting the US.

She urged him to consider investing in healthcare facilities specializing in endometriosis treatment.

Koikai detailed her own struggles with the disease, explaining how misplaced endometrial tissue caused her lungs to collapse monthly and required numerous surgeries.

She highlighted the 17 years it took to get a diagnosis and the lack of treatment options readily available in Kenya.

Koikai bravely shared the toll the disease took on her body, revealing that the misplaced tissue had spread to her teeth, heart, appendix, and spine.

She also spoke out about the impact of endometriosis and adenomyosis on fertility.

Koikai’s final message served as a call to action, raising awareness for the millions of Kenyan women suffering with Endometriosis in silence.

She urged President Ruto to visit specific healthcare facilities in the US specializing in endometriosis treatment during his visit.

The news of her death was broken by ODM spokesperson Philip Etale on Tuesday, June 4.

“Fare thee well my friend, sister, and just best friend Fyah Mummah Jahmby Koikai. That beautiful smile, the phone calls we had talking about many things including our days at KBC back in the day, your mastery of Maragoli language, and the jolly moments you shared with those you knew. You had a big family, just a big one… go well my friend,” Etale posted on X.

According to nominated senator Gloria Orwoba, who also confirmed Njambi’s demise, the media personality passed away last night.

“My heart is broken. It is not fair. We lost @JahmbyKoikai last night. Our warrior is gone,” she posted on X.

Njambi has been battling endometriosis for a long period of time, during which she underwent several surgical procedures.
