Majority of Ruto Supporters Have No Idea Who Rigathi Gachagua Is – TIFA Poll

Majority of Ruto Supporters Do Not Know the Running Mate Picked by Deputy President William Ruto, Rigathi Gachagua.

According to a TIFA poll released on Wednesday, May 18, 90 percent of Raila Odinga’s followers could accurately identify NARC-Kenya party leader Martha Karua, compared to only 69 percent of Ruto’s supporters who could correctly identify the Mathira Member of Parliament.

In general, 85 percent of Kenyans properly identified Karua as Raila’s deputy, but just 59 percent correctly identified Gachagua as Ruto’s deputy.

Only 38% of Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s supporters identified Andrew Sunkuli as his running mate, despite the fact that he had dumped Azimio.

Furthermore, the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance received 38% more votes than the Kenya Kwanza alliance (28 per cent).

31 per cent of Kenyans are yet to make up their mind on the choice of coalition with only 82 days to the General Election.

“While nearly all Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) supporters support the Azimio coalition (96 percent), rather fewer supporters of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) support the Kenya Kwanza Alliance (85 percent).”

The poll also revealed that the Raila-Karua ticket is getting momentum, with the pair leading with 39% of the vote, followed by the Ruto-Gachagua ticket with 35%.

Since the Wiper party leader announced his candidacy, the Kalonzo-Sunkuli combo has only received 2% of the vote.

The poll was conducted between Sunday, May 15 and Monday, May 16, with the goal of determining how widespread public knowledge of the running mates’ identities is, as well as how fresh developments have impacted the presidential race.
