Residents of Ndaba village in Mathiga-ini sub-location, Kirinyaga County, were shocked to find a newborn baby girl abandoned in a bush.
Sicily Maina, a resident, said locals heard a baby crying on Thursday night and upon searching the area near Ndaba Primary School, they discovered the baby left in a bush.

Francis Muriithi, another local, informed the village elder, Robert Munyao, who in turn notified the Mathiga-ini assistant chief.
Ndaba villagers wrapped the baby in a blanket as she only had a nappy on.
“She is so beautiful. I wonder why the mother decided to dump her here. This is the first incident in Ndaba village,” Muriithi said.
The baby girl was taken to Kangai police station and later to Kerugoya hospital as investigations are underway to trace the mother.
