Police launch investigations after a one-day-old baby found dumped in a latrine in Kisii.

Police in Kichinjio village in Kisii county, are looking for a woman suspected to have given birth to a live child before dumping the baby inside a latrine.

According to reports, the one-day-old baby was rescued after a resident who had visited the latrine heard its incessant cries coming from the latrine.

“I was shocked to hear a baby crying from inside the toilet. So, I raised alarm and the police were called to the scene to help with the rescue,” said a witness.

The infant was rescued and rushed to Kisii Referral Hospital. 

Police and the local authorities have asked local residents for any information that could lead to the determination and arrest of suspects to share it with them.

 Meanwhile, the police have begun gathering information from residents that they believe will help identify the mother.
