Police launch investigations after an angry man stones his wife to death in Elgeyo Marakwet

Police in Elgeyo Marakwet have detained a middle-aged man who has allegedly stoned a woman believed to be his wife.

The incident, which happened on Saturday, March 9, in the morning hours, left the Bireto area residents in shock after the angry man continuously beat the woman for a long period.

Witnesses claimed that the man continued to strike the woman while picking up more pebbles, which ultimately caused her death.

The massive crowd that had gathered around to witness the incident was forced to intervene in the situation, after which they marched the man to the police station.

The victim was a mango trader in the area and a resident of the Tot area in Elgeyo Marakwet. She was allegedly married to her killer.

The suspect, from the Kipsereman area in Baringo, has been detained at the police station as officers launch investigations into the matter.

In a similar incident, a man was arrested on Thursday after killing his wife and her lover, whom he found engaging in intimate activities inside his rented apartment.

The man, who had returned from a burial ceremony, committed the act in the early morning hours before confessing his transgressions to his sister.

The sister later reported him to the police, who arrested him immediately.

According to neighbours, the couple was involved in numerous fights in the past, so no one answered the woman’s cries when the incident happened.

“They fight so much with the wife. I thought he was beating his wife as usual, I’m shocked to find out he murdered her,” a neighbour stated.

In a more horrific incident a week ago, police in Bomet launched a manhunt after a man hacked to death four people including his two children.

The four, his two children aged 2 years and 16 years, his niece aged 8 years, and a household aged 16 years succumbed to injuries sustained from the cuts inflicted with a machete.
