Raila-Kalonzo political marriage edging closer

2 min read

Raila-Kalonzo political marriage is edging closer after Wiper’s leader opened a door for a possible reunion with his ex-partner.

If allegations of Raila Odinga’s reconciliation with Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka are to be believed, the two will work together once more.

Kalonzo and other One Kenya Alliance leaders are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding with Azimio La Umoja, indicating their desire to collaborate with him.

According to reports, President Uhuru Kenyatta took charge of the talks between the two leaders, brokering a settlement.

Following negotiations at the State House on Tuesday, February 1, Kalonzo and Uhuru are said to have achieved an agreement.

Uhuru’s hands-on attitude to their negotiations is alleged to have been prompted by his unhappiness with Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula’s choice to join Deputy President William Ruto.

The principals proclaimed their intent to collaborate with like-minded leaders during the signing of OKA’s deed of assignment, which transferred the Kalonzo Musyoka command centre to the OKA centre.

“We are open to honest engagements with other political formations that share our ideology,” said Gideon Moi during their briefing.

On the other hand, Kalonzo was cagey in revealing details, saying they had time to form political coalitions before the set deadline.

“We have up to April 9 to form any political coalition. But we have agreed that they would be joining us, not the other way round, ” declared Kalonzo.

Kalonzo said he might consider working with Raila again but with a good reason.

“To support him (Raila) for the third time would take some really serious introspection. That is why I said I would be a fool. If I end up supporting him again, then I would have a good reason. If it comes to that, there will be negotiations, ” Kalonzo told the Daily Nation.
