Ronaldo is the reason Antonio Conte isn’t at Man United, beIN SPORTS pundit says
2 min readAntonio Conte was heavily linked to Man United but ended up at spurs and now beIN SPORTS pundit claims Ronaldo could have caused this.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s presence at Manchester United, according to Richard Keys, is the only reason Antonio Conte did not take over at Old Trafford.
When Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was under fire in October, Conte was heavily connected with the Manchester United job, with some sources even stating that the Italian was interested in taking over.
After thrashing the North Londoners 3-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it was United who ensured Spurs moved quickly to replace Nuno Espirito Santo with the Italian.
In November, Solskjaer was fired by the club, and Ralf Rangnick was named temporary head coach.
If recent rumours are to be accepted, former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is the frontrunner to succeed Jose Mourinho as United manager at the end of the season.
However, if Ronaldo leaves United, Keys believes United may grab Conte from Spurs in the summer.

Spurs Web Opinion on Antonio Conte

As a result, they’re looking at all of Conte’s words through that perspective.
From a Tottenham perspective, the 52-year-forceful old’s reaction to the media in his news conference on Friday (Football.London) was undoubtedly very welcome.
