Public servants will have their salaries increased in the next 100 days if pronouncements by Ruto’s government are to by.

Aisha Jumwa, the cabinet secretary for public service and gender, has said that public employees will receive a pay raise within the next 100 days.

On Monday, Jumwa said that the government has planned to implement a number of reforms to enhance service delivery throughout the nation.

She was speaking after inspecting the Nairobi Huduma Center.

“The public service is demoralized in matters of salary and other benefits and I think in my 100 days in office I will initiate the plan to increase salaries of the public servants,” said Jumwa.

CS Jumwa further noted that she will be reviewing the county wage bill, dismissing claims that it is bloated despite the Senate claiming that it has passed the 35 percent threshold as required by law.

“Public service has less than a million public servants who work for 50 million Kenyans so to me that is not a bloated one,” she said.

In a move to upgrade service delivery in all 47 counties, CS Jumwa said that the ministry will review working hours for all 52 Huduma Centres nationwide and also introduce more centres.

“Extended working hours in a number of Huduma Centres, 18 nationally including the one in G.P.O will offer highly sought services from 7 AM to 7 PM,” Jumwa said.

“Our plan is that every sub-county will have a Huduma Centre but because of the current economic times we are planning to have at least 100 in the next 5 years.”
