Ruto to meet UDA nomination losers and winners, to avert fallout
Ruto to meet UDA nomination losers and winners, to avert fallout amid protests over alleged unfairness in the exercise.
Deputy President William Ruto intends to meet with the winners and losers in the UDA party nominations in order to calm tensions within his own camp.
Some of those who were defeated have expressed their displeasure with the process, claiming that it was unfair.
On Tuesday, DP Ruto’s communication director Emmanuel Talam confirmed to a local daily that the meeting will take place.
He said it was not in any way aimed at taming nomination losers from ditching the party.
“Yes, there is a planned meeting but I cannot confirm the date now,” he said.
He added, “That was a democratic exercise and there is already an outcome. So we cannot say the meeting is held to stop any fallout because if they decide to go nothing can be done to stop them.”

It will also take place following the conclusion of hearings and the resolution of disputes brought forth by people who were dissatisfied with the process due to massive anomalies.
The party’s electoral and disputes resolution committee received 115 disputes, out of which 58 have so far been fully dispensed.
By April 28, the electoral commission expects all presidential candidates to submit the names of their potential vice presidents.
With only eight days until his running mate is unveiled, Ruto to meet UDA members and utilize the forum to persuade the losers to stay in the party, support, and advocate for those who won, ensuring victory.
