Police launch investigations over the murder of a 33-year-old secondary school teacher allegedly committed by her husband. 

According to reports, the teacher from Obwolo Secondary School in Kisumu was allegedly attacked and killed by her husband at her Oboch pub in Nyakach sub-county. 

Assistant County Commissioner Darwin Orina of the North Nyakach division confirmed the incident adding that the police had started a probe. 

Orina stated that the suspect, the lady’s husband, was also in custody, adding that the law would not be lenient to anybody involved in the heinous act. 

“The suspect is already in custody, and investigations have commenced. Any other person who will be found to have been involved in the matter will be apprehended,” he stated.

The husband is said to have reportedly attacked his wife and killed her before wrapping the body in a mat and placing it behind the house. 

Area chief Micheal Gundu revealed that the incident happened Monday, January 22, at mid-day, adding that the couple had been having issues for some time. 

According to witnesses, the man tried to conceal his act but was caught by an angry mob that tried to inflict their rudimentary form of justice.

Kabianga High Principal helps fatigued form one student after reporting to school empty-handed.

Form one student, Thomas Ekai from Kondele in Kisumu county shares his ordeal after reporting to Kabianga High School entirely on his own, without the company of his single father or any relative.

The student explained that his father’s financial instability hampers his ability to fund his education, compounded by his mother abandoning the family when he was just a young boy. 

Speaking in an interview with Ramogi TV, the student who scored an impressive 389 marks in KCPE, struggled to secure half of the bus fare to his high school. 

Despite applying for scholarships and reaching out to financial institutions for assistance, he is yet to receive any help. 

“The journey to secure funds for my school admission has been a personal struggle. I do not know who my mother is because she abandoned us when I was very young, and my father, without income, cannot support my education. Despite reaching out to organisations like Wings to Fly, Elimu, Family Bank, and KCB for sponsorships, none have been successful,” he recounted.

The young boy expressed his fear that, without the support of compassionate people, his aspirations for a future in medicine might crumble. “I humbly appeal to anyone with the willingness to help me pursue my education to please come forward. Presently, I find myself in a state of helplessness, and without assistance, my dreams are at risk of being shattered. My fervent prayer is that God sends someone to be my rescuer,” he added. 

Upon reporting to school, the security guards at the gate, sensing his fatigue, brought the matter to the attention of the school principal, Ezekiel Lagat. 

The principal was forced to offer the form one student breakfast upon recognising the physical and psychological fatigue. 

Touched by the story of the student, the school head pledged to facilitate his enrollment and learning journey. 

“Part of the journey was covered on foot. By the time he arrived, he was weary. I had to look for some breakfast for him to give him strength; he was just carrying a jacket. When I saw him, I was filled with a lot of pity and thought this was a case we should adopt as staff. If there is anybody out there who is willing to assist, feel welcome,” he said.

NIBS college founder Lizzie Wanyoike shared a message to Kenyans and her followers hours before the death

Lizzie Wanyoike, the founder of the Nairobi Institute of Business Studies (NIBS), passed away on Sunday, January 14.

12 hours before she was pronounced dead, the business lady had shared some words of advice to Kenyans and her followers. 

In a post published on her social media page, Wanyoike quoted a Bible verse while encouraging her followers to petition their requests to the Lord. 

She further wished her followers a blessed Sunday. Little did they know that it was her last motivational message.

“St. Mark 11:24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. May God answer all you have prayed for,” Wanyoike stated.

“Have a wonderful Sunday,” she signed off.

Hours later, her family announced that the business lady had passed on at the age of 72.

“In loving memory of a remarkable educator. Her passion ignited minds, her kindness touched hearts. A beacon of wisdom, she left an indelible mark on countless lives, shaping futures with grace,” read her eulogy.

Wanyoike was born in November 1951 to her father, a chief, and her mother, a housewife. She attended Kenyatta University where she graduated with a Diploma in Education.

Her passion for Education drove her to start NIBS. With only 25 students, Wanyoike expanded her empire to attract over 6,000 students.

At the moment, NIBS has branches in Ongata Rongai, Thika Town, Nairobi Central Business District, and Ruiru-Kimbo, along Thika Highway.

Besides NIBS, she owned Emory Hotel, a four-star hotel in Kileleshwa for business and hospitality training, and the Lizzie Wanyoike Preparatory School.

Several leaders have eulogized Wanyoike as a pillar for education in the country. Leaders who have mourned her death include Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah, and former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo.

“I join the rest of the country in mourning an educational icon Madam Liz Wanyoike of Nairobi Institute of Business Studies (NIBS) Who has passed on today. Your contribution to the education sector will remain in our hearts forever, you were great in all ways. Go well, my sister. Our condolences to your family, the Nibs fraternity, the education sector, and the nation,” Kuria wrote.
