Education CS Julius Ogamba fires university professor in light of several changes in the national government.
Education CS Julius Migos and his Water and Sanitation colleague Eric Muuga have sanctioned changes in their respective dockets.
In a Gazette Notice seen by Nairobi Leo, CS Ogamba revoked the appointment of a don in a Migori-based university.
The notice indicated that Professor Charles Chunge’s membership in the Rongo University Council was no longer tenable.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 36 (1) (d) of the Universities Act, 2012 of the Universities Act, 2012 1999 as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Education revokes the appointment of Professor Charles Chunge as a member of the Council of Rongo University with effect from the 20th of December, 2024,” the notice read.
The CS did not however announce Professor Chunge’s replacement immediately.
On the other hand, Muuga made an appointment to the Lake Victoria North Water Works Development Agency.
The CS appointed Douglas Isumba to be a member of the agency’s Board of Directors.
“The Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation appoints Douglas Isumba Beru to be a member of the Board of Directors of Lake Victoria North Water Works Development Agency, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 20th of December, 2024,” the notice read.
The changes happened simultaneously with those made by President William Ruto.
The president appointed former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth to serve as the Chairperson of the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) National Standards Council.
Ruto also appointed former Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria to serve as Chairperson of the Public Procurement Regulatory Board.
