Silvanos Osoro reveals plans to confront DP Gachagua during the UDA meeting convened by President Ruto at the State House.

The Chief Whip of the ruling coalition, Silvanus Osoro, now says the Deputy President will be reprimanded before the Head of State when he chairs the UDA parliamentary group on Tuesday morning.

Osoro says MPs within the party are fed up with the DP’s arrogance and misconduct and want the President to take action against him once and for all.

Some of the accusations leveled against Gachagua include undermining the Office of the President and propagating tribalism.

Speaking to journalists, Osoro stated that Gachagua had been tribal in his politics particularly demonstrated through his stance on the “Mountain’s Politics”.

“We also expect him to tell his deputy to stop being tribal and focus on his national agenda. If the President doesn’t, then the members will tell the DP that he is a bit too tribal in his politics,” stated Osoro.

Additionally, Osoro stated that Gachagua’s stance on the One Man One Shilling One Vote debate had been divisive arguing that it aimed at marginalising certain communities.

Speculations are also rife that the Deputy President has absconded duty on several occasions where the President is involved.

Media reports detailed that the DP failed to pick up the President at the airport upon his return from Switzerland on Monday.

However, despite the growing tensions within the UDA Camp, there have been speculations that the President convened the meeting to garner support for the 2024 Finance Bill.

Media reports on Monday evening revealed that UDA MPs had been invited to the meeting alongside their counterparts referred to as Azimio rebels, and independent MPs who have been working with the Ruto administration and supporting the Kenya Kwanza agenda.

This meeting falls on the backdrop of the tabling of a report from the Finance Committee to the Parliament on Tuesday following the conclusion of public participation exercises on the Finance Bill.

The Committee is expected to present the bill despite the growing opposition from Kenyans across the country.
