A third-year student at Rongo University in Migori County was on Thursday stabbed to death after an altercation with a friend at a club near the institution.
According to reports, the two had clashed on how to bill for their drinks.
Sources revealed that Abel Pchumba and his friend had initially agreed to split the bill for their drinks at the club.
However, tensions escalated after Pchumba’s friend accused him of not contributing his share of the drinks.
The disagreement escalated into a physical altercation, with their friends forced to intervene and separate them.
After a little while, everything returned to normal, and the two friends parted ways oblivious that their lives were in danger.
According to the source, Pchumba’s friend followed the third-year student home as was still quite angry over the circumstances.

The informant claims that after following Pchumba from the club to his house, the suspect got into another altercation with him.
The suspect turned violent during this encounter, allegedly stabbing Pchumba with a knife.
“He was taken to Rongo Hospital and then transferred to Tabaka Hospital.
After hours of receiving treatment, he passed on Thursday morning according to collegue student.
This incident joins the latest in a series of student fatalities within university environments.
Many of these cases are linked to factors such as relationship issues or disputes that escalate into violent altercations.
