Wiper Suspends Campaigns for Raila Odinga
Wiper Suspends Campaigns for Raila Odinga, They Now Demand Running Mate Position Be Resolved First.
Leaders allied to Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper Party have announced the suspension of campaigns for Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition presidential candidate Raila Odinga.
Makueni MP Daniel Maanzo, a hardliner in the Wiper Party, confirmed that the party had put on hold campaigns for Raila until the running mate issue was conclusively “made in Kalonzo’s favour”.
“Our stand remains the same. That no Kalonzo, no votes for Raila. We have also advised Kalonzo not to appear before the panel because there is nothing about the former vice president that Raila does not know,” Maanzo said.
“If anyone is still thinking that Kalonzo will take up any position other than deputy president, they are daydreaming. What matters at the moment are the two million votes that Raila will either get if he nominates Kalonzo or will lose if he bypasses him,” he added.

Wiper Suspends Campaigns, Party vice-chair Victor Ogeto
Wiper Party vice chairperson Victor Ogeto said in an interview with Nation media that the party will take a step back to consider its next move.
Ogeto further noted that Wiper and allies will not campaign for the Orange Democratic Movement Party Leader due to rumors that Kalonzo Musyoka will not be Raila’s running mate.
He promised that they will embark on Azimio campaigns if their demands are taken care of with Kalonzo Musyoka being given the running mate post.
“The Wiper team has refused to campaign for Mr. Odinga until the running mate stalemate is resolved. Wiper officials yesterday said Mr. Musyoka should not be subjected to interviews by a panel made of individuals who are not his peers,” read the report from the nation.
According to the Wiper Party officials they have informed that the process of who will be the Azimio Presidential candidate Raila Odinga’s running mate should be his decision and not a decision by the panel creates to help choose his running mate.
The development comes even as the selection panel begins its work today, Wednesday, May 4.
Kalonzo has however threatened not to appear before the selection claiming it to be demeaning.
