Jurgen Klopp’s tactics against Benfica; Thierry Henry warns Liverpool over the tactics they used against Benfica.

Liverpool’s high defensive line has been criticised by Thierry Henry, who has cautioned that ‘you can’t play like that against Villarreal’.

The Reds were held to a dramatic 3-3 draw by Benfica at Anfield last night, advancing to the Champions League semi-finals on an aggregate score of 6-4.

In the next round of the competition, the Merseysiders will face the La Liga side, but former Arsenal great Henry has urged Jurgen Klopp’s side to ‘be careful.’

“Jamie (Carragher) I know you’re not too happy about that, the high line at 3-1,” Henry told CBS Sports (via HITC).

“You can’t play like that against Villarreal.

“You can’t do those mistakes. I mean the job was done. But you don’t want to see that, Henry said of Jurgen Klopp’s tactics.

“As a coach, I am sure Klopp will address that and we know it won’t be the same back four against Villarreal.

“But that’s twice. Losing against Inter. Briefly against Benfica. But they are through. Although, be careful.”

The high line certainly leaves you vulnerable to balls in behind if your forward players aren’t applying enough pressure to the man with the ball.

You’d like to think that Klopp sets up his time in a certain way depending on the opponent, but we have operated with the high line for most of the season.

Liverpool went into the quarter-final second leg at Anfield last night leading 3-1.

But they were given somewhat a scare as they twice battled to draw 3-3 against the Portugal side.

Roberto Firmino bagged a second-half double while Ibou Konate netted his second goal of the last-eight tie for Jurgen Klopp’s men.

However, the match ended 6-4 on aggregate with Liverpool progressing to the next semifinals.
