2021 KCPE candidates with special needs scoring 300 marks and above increased; Top candidate scores 417 marks.

The results of the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exam were released on Monday by Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha.

Bruce Mackenzie Magata of Gilgil Hills Academy took first place with a score of 428.

A total of 11,857 pupils received a grade of 400 or higher.

CS Magoha also provided a breakdown of the performance of 2021 KCPE candidates with special needs while announcing the results.

With 417 points, Bethany Migosi of Thorn Groove Academy was named the top student in that area by the CS.

Candidates with special needs scoring between the 300-399 marks have increased in 2021 compared to 2020.

In 2021 a total of 337 candidates with special needs scored between 300-399 while 318 belonged to that category in 2020.

The number of pupils who sat for their exams under special circumstances including those that were in hospitals was 1,067, a decrease from 1,255 in 2020.

CS Magoha affirmed that Kenya Sign Language recorded a comparable performance in the two years (2021 and 2020).
