Details emerge on how Uhuru spent his first week after handing over power

How Uhuru spent his first week after handing over power to his successor President William Ruto.

On September 13th, Uhuru Kenyatta, the former president, reportedly left the country shortly after handing the reins of power to William Ruto.

The former head of state proceeded on a vacation to contemplate his next course of action.

One of his associates told Nation Africa on Saturday, October 1, that Uhuru needed the trip to unwind and clear his mind after the aftermath of the August 9 election.

Uhuru was said to have traveled to a secluded place, despite the fact that his ally did not reveal his location.

While on vacation, Uhuru nonetheless managed to maintain a low profile. However, his ally would not say whether Uhuru traveled with his family and close friends.

Uhuru is said to have returned to the country in a private jet without drawing any media attention following a week of vacation.

Additionally, he was said to have missed the Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga’s Thanksgiving party in Safari Park on September 29.

“Kenyatta skipped to avoid creating a perception that he is still in a campaign mood,” the confidant stated.

It was also said that he was keen on crossing paths with President Ruto who appointed him as Kenya’s special envoy. Ruto tasked his predecessor with mediating peace talks in Ethiopia and DRC.

Raila organized the event to congratulate and thank the Azimio Secretariat for how they spearheaded his campaign despite losing to Ruto.

Uhuru’s last Azimio meeting was the Masai Lodge parliamentary group meeting in Kajiado county. In the meeting, Azimio strategized allocating leadership in the National Assembly and the Senate.
