Ruto said the agreement will see a gas pipeline from Mtwara to Dar es Salaam connected to Mombasa and Nairobi.

He noted that the move will help lower energy tariffs through enhanced competition in the sector.

“We will now expedite the gas pipeline from Dar es Salaam to Mombasa and eventually to Nairobi so that we can use the resources that we have in our region to lower energy tariffs, both for industry, commercial and domestic purposes,” said Ruto.

Ruto added that his government will be committed to ensuring the project is done promptly, efficiently and effectively.

“In the shortest time possible, we can access the gas resources that you have in your country to drive industrialisation in our country. “I am confident that as the ministers get down to work, they will provide a brief to you and me to fastrack the project,” he said.
