Karua dismisses Musalia Mudavadi at their first meeting at Kakamega
Karua dismisses Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi call for “political unity” during Kakamenga fete.
The former Azimio coalition running mate and the NARC Kenya party leader, Martha Karua ideologically differed with the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi during the Kakamega visit where they attended the Golden Jubilee celebration of Bishop Philip Sulumeti, a pioneer of clerics diocese of Kakamega.
The Prime Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, urged leaders and people to work together following the protracted period of polarization during the campaigns in his speech at the event on Saturday, October 29.
“Election is over and we should put our differences aside and serve Kenyans. We have a common destiny to serve and revive the economy and we can only do this if we move together as a united front,” said Mr. Mudavadi.
However, Karua dismissed Musalia’s calls saying that they will lead to one party nation which will weaken the multi-party democracy in the country.
She urged Azimio governors to cooperate with the national government without joining the Kenya Kwanza side.
“Mr (Fernandes) Barasa, cooperate with the national government because that is the only way to bring benefits to the people of Kakamega but maintain your position in Azimio. Kama ni kufanya kazi, tufanye kazi kwa pamoja tukiheshimiana na mtu akiwa mahali pake (if it is working together, let us work together with respect to each other and when everybody is in his place,” she said.
Karua called on Azimio members to remain steadfast in their coalition saying Kenya needs unity in diversity and not in terms of a single party.
This was the first time for Mudavadi to meet with Karua in a big event since the elections ended.
The day was also historic to Mudavadi as it was the first return to Kakamega as the Prime Cabinet Secretary.
