Chelsea completes moves for a new striker, David Datro Fofana ahead of the January transfer window

Chelsea completes moves for a new striker, David Datro Fofana ahead of the January transfer window.

Chelsea have reached an agreement on a deal with Molde FK for the transfer of David Datro Fofana, with the deal made public on Wednesday.

Graham Potter has been looking to add a new forward to his attacking ranks with a shortage of forward options available to him.

This is coming as Armando Broja will be on the sidelines for a long time after being stretchered off during a friendly match against Aston Villa in Abu Dhabi.

Fofana will join the club on January 1 for a reported fee of £10.93m.

The youngster made his debut for Ivory Coast in a 4-0 friendly win against Burundi in November.

He has scored 15 goals and created five assists in 24 matches for Molde. He also scored four goals in 10 appearances in the Europa League conference qualifiers and main tournament this campaign.

Chelsea N’Golo Kante, Jorginho contracts

Meanwhile, Chelsea believes they’ve convinced N’Golo Kante and Jorginho to remain at the club and are hopeful the pair will sign new contracts.

Both midfielders are out of contract at the end of the season and they’re free to sign pre-contract agreements with non-English clubs from January 1st.

Kante, in particular, has been a major factor in the club’s success in recent years and he’s attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Frenchman has suffered major injury problems in the last three years and he hasn’t featured for Chelsea since August after undergoing hamstring surgery.

Talks have therefore needed to be delicate but the Times reports that Chelsea feels Kante wants to stay at the club and that he’s ready to sign a new deal.

Jorginho has attracted interest from the likes of AC Milan and Juventus, and the Italian has made no secret of his desire to eventually return to his home country.

Jorginho is enjoying his football under Graham Potter and the club feels their latest offer will be enough to convince him to sign an extension.

Midfield is an area that Potter wants to strengthen and he’ll wait until the summer to secure his top targets if they’re not available this month.
