A 68-year-old deaf woman raped and later killed by unknown persons in Homa Bay.
Police in Homa Bay are investigating an incident where a 68- 68-year-old woman was killed by unknown assailants who attacked her at home in Nyagidha village on Monday night.
The body of Wilkister Odanga, a deaf and dumb woman was discovered on Tuesday morning by one of her relatives who had gone to check on her after she failed to wake up.
Wilkister’s body was found lying on her bed by a relative. It is believed that whoever killed the woman gained access through a cut which was made on the door.
The deceased’s relative says inability by the woman to hear and speak exposed her to danger since she could not raise an alarm for help during the attack.

She had marks on her face and is also believed to have been raped.
Nothing was stolen from the house during the time of the attack.
Nyagidha village elder Alice Opiyo says she got information about the death at 10 am.
According to Opiyo, the widowed woman had been living alone in the house after the death of her husband more than a decade ago.
Opiyo called on residents to collaborate with police as investigations into the incident are ongoing.
The body was moved to Homa Bay mortuary awaiting postmortem.
