Kenya Power now says electricity has been restored in 70% of affected areas countrywide after a national outage.
The Kenya Power and Lightning Company (KPLC) has restored electricity in some parts of the country after a nationwide power outage
In a statement on Friday, September 6, KPLC said it has restored power supply to parts of North Rift, Western, Nairobi, Mt Kenya, and Central Rift.
The areas include; Nyeri, Embu, Kirinyaga, Nanyuki, Nakuru, Naivasha, Thika, Eldoret, Kericho, Kakamega, Siaya, Busia, Vihiga, Kisumu, Bungoma, and Webuye towns.
“We have successfully restored power supply to parts of North Rift, Western, Central Rift, Nairobi, and Mt. Kenya,” KPLC stated.
The company apologized to customers for the inconvenience caused by the power outage. KPLC called on Kenyans to be patient as it works to restore power.
“We would like to apologise to our customers for the inconvenience caused by the outage and seek their patience as we work towards restoration of normal service in the remaining areas.

“We will provide additional updates on the progress of the restoration exercise in subsequent alerts,” KPLC stated.
The power outage which began on Friday morning at around 9:00 am affected several parts of the country except for some parts of the North Rift and Western region.
The utility firm however did not disclose the cause of the nationwide electricity outage.
On Friday night, August 30, Kenya Power announced an outage of electricity in most parts of the country except the North Rift region and sections of the Western region.
On Saturday morning, August 31, electricity was still not restored to many parts of the country before being restored later in the day.
