The incident occurred on Monday morning in Kagongo village, Rweno, Kiambu County.

Locals told authorities that the suspect had been upset with his grandmother for not providing him with food. He reportedly pursued her to the farm, where an argument escalated into a physical confrontation.
During the altercation, the man snatched the farming tool from the elderly woman and struck her twice on the head, police said.
After the attack, the suspect fled the scene but was tracked down and arrested by police a few hours later. Kiambu police boss Michael Muchiri confirmed the arrest and stated that the murder weapon, stained with blood, had been recovered from the scene as evidence.
“We are investigating a murder and have the suspect in custody,” Muchiri said. He added that the authorities plan to present the suspect in court and seek additional time to hold him while investigations continue.
Kiragu’s body was moved to a local mortuary for an autopsy as police continue their inquiry into the tragic incident.
