President William Ruto on Tuesday, October 22 hosted Richard Moore who heads the United Kingdom (UK) Secret Intelligence Service alias MI6.
As detailed in the President’s statement, the meeting was held at State House in the company of British High Commissioner to Kenya Neil Wigan and Noordin Haji who heads the National Intelligence Service (NIS).
It was revealed that the meeting was centred around security in Kenya and the region at large.
Particularly, Ruto and the MI6 boss discussed issues regarding counter-terrorism measures within the regional block.
“Kenya has a strong relationship with the United Kingdom, ranging from diplomatic, investment and business to defence and security. Our two countries also share common values of democracy, the rule of law and peaceful resolution of conflicts,” read the statement in part.

“Met UK Foreign Intelligence agency MI6 Chief Richard Moore and British High Commissioner to Kenya Neil Wigan, State House Nairobi, and discussed counter-terrorism, peace and security measures in the Eastern African region.”
Kenya has been a key ally of the UK in security affairs in the country and the region.
In recent years the UK has partnered with the Kenyans government to undertake multi-million projects within the country.
For instance, in 2022, both countries unveiled the first Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) Coast Regional Headquarters and a police station.
The two projects are estimated to have been undertaken to the tune of Ksh81 million.
