Sirisia MP John Waluke has expressed his displeasure over the conduct of his colleagues during President William Ruto’s State of the Nation Address.
Speaking in the National Assembly on Tuesday, November 26, Waluke expressed that the MPs behaved like school kids for their reaction when the President cancelled government deals with Adani.
The MP wondered why the MPs gave the President a standing ovation.
According to the MP, there are better ways in which the MPs can applaud the President for issuing directives that are beneficial to Kenyans.
“This issue of MPs clapping like school children, even me I do not like it. If the President passes or rejects something, there is a way of clapping and not standing up and behaving like school kids,” he opined.

“We are not supposed to do that. We are supposed to listen.”
However, the statements by the lawmaker did not sit well with some of his colleagues who demanded that he apologise for the statements.
“The MPs are being misconstrued for rising up. That was very well in order. The MP is not in order to say that MPs behaved badly. Standing ovations are respected moments for a good speaker,” Emuhaya MP Omboko Milemba responded.
Consequently, Waluke withdrew the statement and apologised.
