Controller of Budget (CoB) Margaret Nyakang’o has shone the spotlight on counties and how they allocated and spent their development monies.
Nyakang’o, in the report covering the start of the financial year from July to October, revealed that Governor Johnson Sakaja-led Nairobi County is among 10 devolved units that spent zero shillings on development during the period.
The others include Kajiado, Baringo, Lamu, Uasin Gishu and West Pokot counties.
On the other hand, the report indicated that Governors Patrick Ole Ntutu of Narok and Kirinyaga’s Anne Waiguru spent the highest on development.
Ntutu pumped Ksh.477 million to development in four months, while Waiguru spent Ksh.378 million, with Busia’s Paul Otuoma absorbing Ksh.328 million to development.
