Former Investment and Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has downplayed the roles of his successors (CSs) in the Ministry months after he quit.
In a seemingly savagery tweet, Kuria suggested that the CSs who presided over the Trade docket failed to continue the works he had initiated.
For instance, Kuria pointed out that the industrial parks he had been launching country-wide to provide jobs for the youth died long after he left the Ministry.
He seemed to take on CSs Rebecca Miano and Salim Mvurya, who were at the helm of the ministry before their reassignment into new dockets.
The one-time Gatundu South MP expressed optimism in former Nakuru governor Lee Kinyanjui, who is the latest nominee into the docket.
‘Wacha niongee initoke. Industrial Parks Dead. Special Economic Zones Dead. Export processing zones are dead. Manufacturing is down to 6% of GDP. Foreign Direct Investments lowest in 20 years. Exports as % of GDP 10% down from 28%. After trying the big shoes by Rebecca Miano and Salim Mvurya, I hope Lee Kinyanjui will make a difference,” said Kuria.

Kuria served in the Ministry for 11 months between September 2022 and October 2023.
He was later moved to the Public Service Ministry in a Cabinet reshuffle undertaken by the president in October 2023.
Kuria served in the Public Service Ministry until July 2024, when he was fired alongside his colleagues in the Cabinet.
He was then later in August appointed as a senior advisor in his Council of Economic Advisors.
His role would be mainly to bolster the implementation of the BETA Plan by the Broad-Based Government.
Meanwhile, Lee Kinyanjui awaits vetting by the National Assembly’s Committee on Appointments.
Should he be approved, he will be the fourth occupier of the Trade CS post after Kuria, Miano and Mvurya.
