Police in Kisumu have released 78 teenagers who were arrested during a house party at Mountain View Estate.

The group included 68 boys and 10 girls, all under the age of 18.

Kisumu Central Sub-County Police Commander Peter Mulai said the teenagers were found in possession of bhang, cigarettes, and khat during the raid.

According to Mulai, nearly 100 youths were at the party, but several managed to escape as police conducted the operation following a tip-off.

Mulai confirmed that five teenagers who had remained in custody were picked up by their relatives this morning.

Police have also contacted the owner of the house where the party was held.

The homeowner, who is the father of one of the teenagers, claimed he was unaware of the incident as he was away at the time.

Mulai has urged parents to monitor their children closely during the festive season, warning that police will remain vigilant against such illegal gatherings.
