A 20-year-old expectant student at Mawego National Polytechnic in, Homa Bay County was stabbed to death on Saturday over a suspected love triangle.
Sheryl Awino, who was a first-year student at pursuing a land surveyor course was allegedly killed by her boyfriend who is also a student at the same learning institution.
Sheryl also lost her unborn child after the suspect stabbed her in the abdomen using a kitchen knife.
His father John Odongo was called by her daughter’s roommate on Saturday morning that the student had been admitted at Kendu Adventist Hospital in Rachuonyo North however later she succumbed to injuries she sustained during the incident.
Odongo says during their enquiries, they established that the student was at her hostel until Friday evening when her boyfriend visited her.
The two are said to have spent the entire night together and no one suspected that something wrong could have happened but some commotion was heard in a room where they were on Saturday 5 am.
The student was rushed to hospital with a wound on her abdomen where she succumbed and at the hospital, medical officers discovered that the deceased was expectant.

The family said justice should be accorded to their daughter by arresting the suspect.
