Police in Trans Mara are probing the circumstances in which an officer attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) was injured and later died.
It was reported that the officer was revelling at a pub within the Gem Shopping Centre when he met his attacker.
Confirming the incident, Narok County Police Commander Riko Ngare revealed that the officer was drinking at the joint when he was attacked.
He sustained a serious stab injury under his left armpit; he was rushed to the Oasis Hospital in Kehancha before being referred to Ombo Mission Hospital in Migori County.
He succumbed while on treatment at the hospital he was referred to.
Meanwhile, the main suspect identified as Michael Masande was arrested and a Maasai sword was recovered from him.
The weapon would be stored as an exhibit as the suspect faces justice.

The detective’s body was booked into the St. Akidiva Mabera Hospital morgue ahead of the postmortem.
The deceased was stationed in Changamwe.
