Evojo Primary School in Sabatia Subcounty has been closed indefinitely after body parts were found in a toilet within the school premises.
The sub-county police commander, Peter Mbua, confirmed the incident on Tuesday, May 6.
In a video, the toilet where these body parts were found was shown to have been demolished, with operations to retrieve them still ongoing.
Cranes and pumps were also seen working on the scene, and puzzled bystanders watched it all unfold.
Speaking after the discovery, the deputy headteacher of the school, Oscar Changilwa, revealed that the parts had been discovered just after the school had come back from burying their headteacher.
“We are saddened that such an act has occurred. We just resumed school the other day after burying our headteacher. We arrived at the school and one of our pupils went to the toilet and came back telling us that he had seen a head in the toilet,” the Deputy stated.
“All the teachers ran to the scene, and when I poured water on it, I confirmed it was a human head. That is when I called the relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Education and Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC) and DCI.”
He further claimed that the pupils were traumatised not just by the demise of their headteacher but also the gruesome discovery.
At the time of the publication of this article, no more details were available concerning the identity of the victim or the circumstances of the death.
However, since body parts were discovered, suspicions point to a possible dismemberment before the parts were dumped in the school toilet.

Unfortunately, this gruesome incident is not an anomaly in the country, with several other similar incidents having been reported in the recent past.
From people being killed and dumped in latrines to toilets caving in and causing death, several Kenyans have lost their lives this way.
In March 2024, a 28-year-old female nurse was found dead in the toilet of a building in Embu County, which hosts a therapy facility.
Reportedly, the lady locked herself inside the facility before overdosing on painkillers. Her body was later discovered lying on the floor.
She had been at the therapy centre seeking counselling over her failing marriage, and preliminary reports revealed that she had lost the battle by taking her own life.
Her friends who reacted to her death online urged those in unstable marriages or relationships to seek counselling and make decisions that are in their family’s best interests.
