Arteta makes transfer admission amid summer revamp
Arteta makes transfer admission ahead of summer revamp as technical director Edu reaches £3m agreement.
Mikel Arteta has spoken out about the possibility of Arsenal buying Marquinhos from Sao Paulo in the forthcoming transfer window.
The Gunners have agreed to pay around £3 million to sign the 19-year-old.
So far this season, the Brazil youth international has appeared 16 times for Sao Paulo, assisting on four goals.
And, following thorough discussions with technical director Edu, he is likely to join the north London outfit this summer.
Marquinhos’ arrival at the Emirates Stadium coincides with Arteta’s desire to bolster his strike force, with Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette’s contracts set to expire in the coming weeks.

Arteta makes transfer admission
Arteta commented on Marquinhos’ reported arrival, speaking in the pre-match press conference ahead of the Gunners’ Everton game on the final day.
He said: “When there is a player to announce in the next few weeks we’ll be dealing with that.”
Mike Arteta added by detailing the impact of Edu’s resources available to him, with a top-three Premier League finish out of the picture.
Arteta said: “We are going to have certain resources, not unlimited resources, certain resources.
“We don’t know what the rest are going to have which I assume is going to be challenging because now it’s not a top three, it’s a top eight.”
