KUCCPS updates portal with new degree cut-off points
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has officially updated its online portal with new degree cut-off points and minimum subject requirements ahead of the 2026 university application cycle.
The placement body has uploaded all degree programmes, updated cut-off points, institutions, and their codes ahead of the portal’s opening.
The revised cluster cut-off points are expected to guide 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates as they prepare to select their preferred degree programmes.
According to the update, KUCCPS has categorised courses into 20 clusters, each with varying competitiveness based on demand, available slots, and institutional capacity.
Notably, courses in Social Sciences, Media, and Arts (Cluster 3) have the highest number of programme options, while specialised fields such as Law (Cluster 1) remain limited.

The portal shows that competitive clusters such as Engineering (Cluster 5), Business-related courses (Cluster 2), and Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (Cluster 15) offer a wide range of programme choices of up to 20 different courses each.
The cut-off points are not uniform across all institutions, but instead, they vary depending on the university, meaning a course may have different cut-off requirements at different universities.
For instance, in the latest update, Moi University has the lowest cut-off points for Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (42.066) and Law (33.699) among all the listed public universities under these categories.
Applicants can access the full list of updated degree programmes, including minimum entry requirements, institution types, programme codes, and cut-off points, through the application portal: Kuccps.net
To log in, use your KCSE index number, select your KCSE year, and enter your KCPE index number as the password. Once logged in, proceed to ‘All programmes’. Students can also manually filter the list to easily find and select their preferred courses.
The application window is expected to open soon, and candidates are urged to carefully review all requirements before submitting their choices to avoid placement challenges.
