Passengers in a bus have escaped narrowly after it burst into flames on Thursday morning.

The incident happened at Tsavo National Park near Mtito Andei along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.

No fatalities were reported.

The early morning incident saw passengers scamper for safety as the fire began spreading to other parts of the bus.

Preliminary reports suggest the fire might have been caused by a technical failure.

Following the incident, firefighters were quickly dispatched to the scene to help put out the fire which had engulfed the bus.

Although it took a while, firefighters eventually managed to put out the fire before the bus was towed away.

Passengers traveling in the bus were reassigned to other buses and continued with their journeys.

Cases of Public Service Vehicles bursting in flames have become rampant recently with several similar cases reported in different parts of the country.

In a similar situation in February this year, a bus traveling to Mombasa from Nairobi reportedly burst into flames.

However, the passengers were quickly evacuated from the bus before being placed in another PSV to allow them to continue with their journey.

While confirming the incident, the bus company in a statement, expressed remorse for the affected passengers and vowed to tame a recurrence of such.
