Arsenal Fc offer player contract extension and he’s set to accept
Arsenal Fc have offered their player a new contract and the player is expected to accept it, according to a report.
David Ornstein reported that Arsenal Fc offered Brooke Norton-Cuffy a new long-term contract, extending his stay with the club beyond his current deal to 2023.
Norton-Cuffy is currently on his first professional deal, which carries with it a limit on contract length. But he’s now 18 and eligible for a longer-term extension.
Ornstein adds that Norton-Cuffy has caught the eye of Premier League suitors and other clubs in major European divisions, but he’s expected to accept the Arsenal offer.
The right-back is currently on loan with Lincoln City, and his first spell in senior football is going excellently.
Many of Arsenal’s younger loanees take a while to adapt during their first loans, but Norton-Cuffy leapt straight into Lincoln’s starting lineup last month and he’s earned plenty of praise since.
The England u18 international is also a potential long-term solution to Arsenal’s right-back problems.
Takehiro Tomiyasu has made a great start in North London, but he’s struggling with injury problems.
Cedric Soares has done well enough filling in, but his future seems a bit uncertain once Tomiyasu returns and takes his place. Hector Bellerin and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are expected to leave this summer.
Norton-Cuffy would probably be more willing to play a backup role in a season or two, before eventually competing for a starting spot. That could save Arsenal a lot of money in the meantime.
