Body of a masters university student found decomposing inside hostel
Police in Uganda discover the decomposing body of a Kenyan student inside the hostel.
The decomposing body of a Kenyan student, Isaac Ochola, studying at the Kampala International University (KIU) was found on Saturday, May 11, leaving locals shocked.
According to Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson, police were alerted about a foul smell coming from the 33-year-old student’s room.
The officers rushed to the hostel and found the door locked forcing them to break it down. They found Ochola’s body rotting away.
“Our officers visited the scene, recorded statements from neighbours and then conveyed the body of KIU Teaching Hospital Mortuary for postmortem,” Tumusiime stated.
He revealed that the officers found different types of medicine sprawled on the deceased’s bed. Several syringes were also found in the room and were taken in as evidence.

Additionally, police recovered documents which indicated that the deceased was suffering from a psychiatric disorder and was undertaking medication.
News of his passing has left many of his friends and family back in Kenya in shock questioning what happened to Ochola.
“Gone too soon, may your soul rest in eternal peace,” one of his friends wrote.
Ochola was undertaking a Masters degree in Internal Medicine. It is yet to be established whether his body had been transported back to Kenya by the time of publishing this article.
Police from the area have begun investigations into Ochola’s untimely death and will issue updates in due time.
