Charity Ngilu vows to recapture Kitui governorship seat in 2027
Former Governor Charity Ngilu promises to return to Kitui County politics declaring her intention to retake the governorship seat she vacated in 2022.
Ngilu served as governor of Kitui in 2017 after defeating then-incumbent Julius Malombe.
But he chose not to defend his seat during the 2022 general election and opted to stick with Azimio boss Raila Odinga, who was running for president.
Raila lost to President William Ruto and with it faded hopes of Ngilu getting state jobs.
Ngilu, who previously maintained a low political profile, has made some public appearances during which he has declared his return to politics for Kitui governorship.

Last weekend, during separate events, Ngilu said she would once again return home as the new county chief and better serve the people of Kitui after Malombe leaves office.
At a fundraiser at the Kitui Town ACK Church, Ngilu sparked laughter when he said he would offer a job to Malombe Agriculture and Livestock CCA “worker” Stephen Kimwele.
“As your Minister of Agriculture, I really see that you are doing very well. Once he returns, I will keep you. You are the best. If you are the best, how can I not hire you?
He said it was time for Malombe to strive to serve the people because he will not have another opportunity beyond 2027, as dictated by the Constitution.
