Protestors storm UDA party headquarters in Nairobi in support of Cleophas Malala amidst ouster claims.

A group protestors on Wednesday stormed the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) offices located in Nairobi.

The protesters were captured hoisting huge placards and twigs as they demanded an audience with the party leaders.

The furious demonstrators accused the UDA party hierarchy of unwarranted planning to oust the current party Secretary General Cleophas Malala.

In the footage that has since circulated widely, the demonstrating youths were depicted attempting to access the office premises through the gates.

However, the demonstrations were cut short after armed police officers intervened and began dispersing the demonstrators.

The incident comes after Joe Khalende reportedly declared himself the party’s new secretary-general, announcing Malala’s dismissal.

Khalende accused Malala of contravening the party’s objectives and opposing the broad-based government allegedly formed by President William Ruto.

“I Joe Khalende, will be taking over as the Secretary General of the UDA party. UDA party is going back to its members. Cleophas Malala has joined the opponent,” Khalende alleged.

“Malala has gone against our party leader. He has been at the forefront of frustrating the party’s grassroots elections. He has been a man on the run.”

The latest development comes hours after Malala refuted allegations of stepping down from his current party position.

Malala while flagging a viral post that purported his resignation, termed the allegations as propaganda and urged Kenyans to ignore the contents of the letter.

“Ignore propaganda. The party is stable and focused on helping President  William Ruto achieve his agenda for Kenya. Chama iko Imara,” Malala clarified.
