Eldoret youth take to the streets demanding reinstatement of Former CS Murkomen
Eldoret youth take to the streets calling on President Ruto to reinstate Murkomen and Kindiki to the cabinet.
Police in Eldoret on Wednesday dispersed hundreds of youth who were demonstrating along the Eldoret-Kapsabet road demanding that President William Ruto reinstate Mr Kipchumba Murkomen, Prof Kithure Kindiki, and Aden Duale to the cabinet.
The trio were cabinet secretaries for Transport, Interior, and Defence respectively.
The youth, who chanted pro-Murkomen, Kindiki, and Duale slogans, claimed that the three were among the best-performing cabinet secretaries before they were sacked by President Ruto last week.
“Kindiki, Murkomen, and Duale have demonstrated competency during the period they served as cabinet secretaries and President Ruto must consider re-appointing them when he nominates his cabinet,” said one of the demonstrators.
Waving placards in praise of the trio, the youth claimed that the move to dissolve the entire cabinet was politically instigated by detractors hiding behind the Gen Zs.
“We want Murkomen, Kindiki, and Duale back in the cabinet. They are clean and their records speak for themselves,” said Charles Kimeto, one of the protesters.

Police blocked them from entering the CBD, fearing a clash with another group supporting the removal of the three cabinet secretaries.
“We can’t allow them to enter the city centre, they will clash with a rival group waiting for them at the Members Hotel,” said one of the police officers who was keeping them at bay.
The demonstrators, who included boda boda operators, snaked their way along the Eldoret-Nairobi road to Elgon View Estate.
However, the group opposing the demonstrations alleged that the protesters were paid by certain politicians from the region to demonstrate in support of the sacked CSs.
“These are procured demonstrators. As Gen Z, we have given President Ruto a blueprint on who should be appointed as CS. This noise will not change anything,” said a youth protester in the group waiting for the rival group at Members Hotel along Odinga Oginga Street in Eldoret town.
