Siaya High Court Judge Daniel Ogembo was on the morning of Wednesday, July 17, was found dead inside his residential house in Siaya Town.
Until his untimely death, Ogembo was the presiding judge at Siaya High Court.
Siaya County Governor James Orengo led the nation in mourning the judge.
“Justice Ogembo had a marvellous ability to listen intently, reflect quietly and then interject, usually with a brief few words that brought clarity in the courtroom. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” he mourned.
According to his driver, the Judge had on Tuesday afternoon complained he was not feeling well despite honouring his work calendar.
After he did not pick up his calls and texts on Wednesday morning, the driver sought help to break into his home and check on the Judge.
While the Judge stayed on the residential property alone, his family was notified and rushed to the scene to open the house and confirm the body.
Police officers also arrived on the scene and took his body to the mortuary for autopsy.

Before being posted to Siaya, Ogembo had served in Eldoret and Milimani High Courts.
Ogembo’s death was the third one in quick succession to hit the Judiciary following the deaths of Justice David Majanja and Principal Magistrate Monica Kivuti.
Incidentally, Justice Majanja was being laid to rest on the same day that Ogembo was found dead.
Chief Magistrate Monica Kivuti died on June 15, after she succumbed to gunshot injuries inflicted by a police officer during an open-court session following.
