Mediamax Limited journalist Catherine Wanjeri was on Tuesday, July 16 shot while covering anti-government protests in Nakuru.
Catherine Wanjeri was allegedly shot in the leg while filming the protests at the Nakuru Central Business District (CBD).
She was in the company of a fellow journalist who also sustained critical injuries.
Reports indicate that Wanjeri was wearing a press jacket and had a press card during the shooting incident.
The Mediamax scribe was rushed to the Valley Hospital in Nakuru for immediate treatment.
Wanjeri was among three people who were shot at by the police in Nakuru.
The second person was shot in the leg while the third one was shot in the back.
The shooting of the journalist caused uproar online with netizens condemning security officers over the incident.
Other social media users wondered why the journalist was shot yet she was wearing a press jacket.

A similar scenario was witnessed in several parts of the country as protesters took to the streets to demonstrate against the government.
In Nairobi, running battles ensued between police officers and the protesters as the cops attempted to disperse the anti-government demonstrators who had gathered within the CBD.
Protesters could be heard making anti-Ruto chants as they marched through the city streets while hoisting flags and twigs.
In most parts of the country where the demonstrations took place, the protesters expressed their fury over poor governance and demanded accountability.
