2 min readErling Haaland move to Man City is ‘so close’ with the club still pursuing England international Harry Kane.
Shaun Goater, a Manchester City icon, claims he is attempting to persuade Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland to join Pep Guardiola’s team ahead of a lucrative summer transfer.
Shaun Goater, a Manchester City legend, says he is “doing his hardest” to persuade Erling Haaland to join the club.
Goater, who played for City alongside Haaland’s father Alf Inge, has already stated that he will try to persuade his old teammate’s son to join the club.
It comes as the club is allegedly close to completing the signing of Argentine striker Julian Alvarez, which could influence the club’s decision on whether or not to recruit another striker in the summer.
According to rumours, Manchester City would pursue Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland this summer despite Julian Alvarez’s impending arrival.
Alvarez has been considered as one of Argentinian football’s greatest talents, and he might replace compatriot Sergio Aguero at the Etihad.
According to ESPN, the team will still look for a top-flight forward in the upcoming transfer window.
City are said to be “open to the possibility” of bringing Alvarez into Guardiola’s squad next season, but Kane and Haaland are still on their want list.
Arsenal have no clinical striker and are ‘nowhere near top three’ Perry Groves
When a £68 million release clause in his contract kicks in this summer, Haaland is expected to become one of the most sought-after signings of the year.
And Goater looks to be doing everything he can to persuade the son of an old teammate to join the club where his father played.
