The former Arsenal striker broke his silence on social media after scoring his first hat-trick for Barcelona on Sunday afternoon.
Former Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has thoroughly settled in at Barcelona, scoring a hat-trick in their 4-1 win over Valencia on Sunday.
After a squabble with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, the Gabonese striker moved to Barcelona at the start of this month. Following a disciplinary issue, Aubameyang was deprived of his leadership at the club.
After Arsenal decided to terminate the 32-year-contract, old’s he was permitted to join the La Liga giants on a free transfer.
Aubameyang scored his first, second, and third goals for Barcelona on his fourth appearance in all competitions.
After the game, the striker took to social media to express his delight with his performance and three goals.
Speaking on his Instagram, the Former Arsenal striker Aubameyang said: “First hat-trick and I hope many more. Let’s go.”
He also addressed the media after the match and spoke about his enjoyment he gets from playing in Valencia, where he referenced the hat-trick he scored for Arsenal in their Europa League victory against the Spanish side in May 2019.
He said: “The last time I played here I scored a hat-trick with Arsenal. I like playing here… Mestalla is like my home.”
Arsenal tried their best to replace Aubameyang in the January transfer window, with Arteta trying to sign a new striker last month, but the Gunners were unable to land any of their targets.
Dusan Vlahovic was the club’s first-choice target, but the Serbian instead completed a £66million move to Juventus from Fiorentina, leaving Arsenal frustrated after prioritising the 22-year-old striker in the window.
