Former Judiciary Chief Registrar Anne Amadi among 37 applicants for IEBC chairperson position

Former East African Court of Justice judge Charles Nyachae and former Judiciary Chief Registrar Anne Amadi are among the 37 individuals who are interested in the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairperson position. 

The 37 candidates were longlisted for the position after the Selection Panel for the Recruitment Of The Nominees For Appointment As Chairperson And Members of IEBC narrowed down the number of applicants after eliminating duplicate and stray applications.

Other candidates who are interested in the IEBC chairperson position include; Abdulqadir Lorot H. Ramadhan, Calistus Wekesa Waswa, Cedrick Ogoro Mukhwana, Choge Rollince, Chrisphine Otieno Owiye, Duncan Oburu Ojuwang, Edward Katama Ngeywa, Erastus Edung Ethekon, Francis Kakai Kissinger, Fred Khaemba Musungu, Isaac Mutie Mutua, Jackson Angoturum, Jacob Nyekele Mwegei, James Humphrey Obanda Oswago, Josiah Onyanchaa, Joy Brenda Masinde-Mdivo, Justry Patrick Lumumba Nyaberi and Kadhua Jimmy Kahindi.

Kenneth Kiplimo Kemboi, Kibet Victor, Lilian Wanjiku Manenge, Nelly Peris Ashubwe, Patrick Omutia Otulia, Peterkin Nyongesa, Samson Omua Ogada, Samuel Kariuki Kiragu, Samuel Osewe Ochillo, Saul Simiyu Wasilwa, Thomas Maosa Nyakambi, Vincent Omondi Olouch, Walubengo Waningilo, William Otieno Oketch, Wilson Wambugu Maina, Wycliffe Kiprotich Kiprono Bonnke and Yvonne Mercy Olaka are also interested in the top IEBC position.

The IEBC selection panel chairperson Nelson Makanda in a statement on Wednesday announced that the panel will proceed to shortlist the candidates before conducting the interviews.

“Following the longlisting exercise, the Selection Panel shall now proceed to undertake the shortlisting process, the list of which will also be published soon before proceeding with the interviews,” said Makanda.

He also assured Kenyans that the panel is working within its timelines and on course to complete its work within the 90-day deadline set out in the First Schedule to the IEBC Act.

Meanwhile, the panel has narrowed down the number of candidates interested in being members of IEBC to 1,319.
