27-year-old woman, a graduate from Masinde Muliro University allegedly commits suicide after complaining of applying for 500 jobs without success
A body of a 27-year-old woman was found hanging inside a bathroom at her parents’ home in Umiru village, Siaya County after she is suspected to have committed suicide.
According to reports, the body of the woman who has been identified as Vera Omondi Okoth was discovered by her mother Herine Okoth at round 6.30 am before she raised alarm.
Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo said that the mother went to wake the deceased but found her missing in her room.
The mother is the then said to have proceeded to the bathroom which is adjacent to Vera’s house only to find her body hanging with a rope round her neck.

According to the police’s preliminary investigation, the deceased had asked her mother before she went to bed whether she would ever find a job because she had applied to over 500 positions without success.
It was also found that the deceased had graduated from Masinde Muliro University in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in science.
While confirming the incident, Kimaiyo state that the deceased did not leave behind any suicide note but only left all her certificates on her bed.
He stated that the body was moved to Yala sub-county hospital mortuary pending autopsy as investigations begin into the matter.
